Usual disclaimer applies.) These TPU cases are the new silicon cases, which is to say, they're a dime a dozen. When Ipods became the rage in 2004, 2005, you couldn't walk into an electronics store without finding a ridiculous array of silicon cases. Silicon's pretty much passe' today, and for good reason: it attracts every bit of lint and dust anywhere near it, and eventually the case will stretch out and look, not to mention FIT, awful. That's where TPU comes in.TPU, standing for some chemical compound I can't wrap my head around, is kind of the more mature sibling of silicon. I'm glad it happen that way, otherwise I might have missed out on a quality case. I was a little nervous about my decision until the case came and I was able to try it out for myself. I found that the case fits perfect and does not interfere with the touch screen at all. The material is great! It has a nice shock resistance factor without being a lint collector. It took a few hours of regular use to break-in the material over the buttons. Once it was broken in, I was able to press all the buttons with ease. I Love the look of this case because it allows the aesthetics of the iPhone 4 to show through the clear casing while providing significant protection. Just what I wanted. One was perfect the other suffered the complaints others had of the buttons being very difficult to push. I am guessing the version being complained about was manufactured earlier before the iPhone 4 was released and the improved version has now replaced it. Forget all the complaints about the buttons being hard to push, they push easily out of the box! Here's how you can tell the difference in the version of the cases, the sides on the older version are clear, on the newer version they are frosted like the back. This later version fits like a glove and is perfectly easy to push the volume and sleep buttons. The mute button is uncovered and requires your nail to move in the case but it should be noted that even without a case it is not the easiest to slide.
