I just recently bought the elago S3 Case for iPhone 3GS in Gun Metal as my second elago case. I have to say, I loved my other case, but I am even happier with the S3. Bottom Line: - Case fits amazingly - Not bulky, and looks great - Grips well in the hand - Protects the iPhone very well - Does not interfere with docking, taking photos or get in the way of any of the controls - Bang for the Buck - Value My experience: When I first got my iPhone people tried to convince me to buy bulky inconvenient cases that bulge in your pocket, interfere with docking, or just feel like they cheapen your iPhone. However, they've failed miserably at providing a screen protector that gives any sort of reasonable utility. The case itself fits well enough, and is easy to install/remove. The material is nice and smooth, feels good in the hand, and adds a little bulk to the iPhone. (It goes into my jeans pocket with some difficulty). The volume and hold buttons are covered very well, and I haven't had any problems with them. Additionally, the hole for the headphones works well enough for my Shure earbuds. My biggest problem with this case on the whole is that it just isn't very durable. I accidentally dropped it from about 16" to some rough pavement, and much to my sadness the rubber case had a chunk torn out of it, and there were some other deep scuffs from the impact. I love this case. I wear jeans most of the time, so I didn't like the real rubbery silicone cases pulling the insides of my pockets out each time I pulled the phone out, yet I didn't want a hard case so slick that it didn't have any grip. This case is a nice combination of both. Of course it doesn't offer the "toughbook" like protection of the otterbox, but if you don't need that super protection, you should be good. I've dropped my phone twice since I've had the case, both time just being clumsy and in a hurry while taking it out of my pocket. After the initial cringe, to my satisfaction I picked up the phone and although there was a little scuff on the corner of the case (which buffed out easily), the phone was fine. I previously had the Belkin sliding hard case, but I wanted something different because it was scratching the backside and chrome surrounding of my phone. I did some research and watched some videos before I bought this case. As you may have seen, this case is like silicone but it's a little harder so it has a bit of plastic feel to it. The outside is a little slick yet grippy enough so that it doesn't slide all over the place. The fit is almost perfect too. I'm not sure how it it'll be after some more use, but hopefully it can handle the wear and tear pretty well. And for 10 bucks cheaper than most cases I've seen, I would get this. Oh and it does come with a screen protector. I wasn't aware since I wasn't really looking for a new screen protector. Not only do I feel the phone is protected, but it still looks just as sleek. This case does not take away from Apple's design quality, it merely protects it. The rubber inside doesn't scratch the iPhone and in case you drop it, the rubber will absorb the hit so that your phone doesn't. It came with a protective film for the screen but after applying it, I didn't like the look and feel so I took it off. The glass screen is one of the most attractive features of the iPhone, and putting plastic over it just isn't for me. I figure if the screen breaks I can get it replaced for about $50 at a repair store, and I can insure the device for $30 a year through my insurance carrier, which is much better than AppleCare because AppleCare doesn't protect you from spills, drops, etc... whereas insurance does. Here's my exposure to other cases I've bought, and why I think Speck has the best case. Ifrogz Luxe: The Luxe has a nice two-tone look, but the plastic protecting the iPhone is of very low quality. The coloring on the back of the case easily wears off upon daily use. Even worse, the tabs on the plastic that snap the two pieces into place will frequently break, rendering this case by far the least durable of the ones I've tried. SwitchEasy Rebel Serpent: This is a nice-looking one piece heavy duty case- almost too heavy duty though, as it detracts from the phone's sleekness. Although the silicone is high quality, my biggest problem with this case is aesthetics. I have been very pleased so far. It has a very snug, solid fit. It is not as slim as the Slider, but provides two layers of drop protection at only a hair more thickness. Best of all it does not add new scratches to my phone. It's not perfect, though: the vibrate switch cut-is not quite the right shape, as other reviewers have mentioned the earphone jack cutout is too small for some headphones (not a problem for me since I use the standard set), it's not terribly easy to get out of the case (but is really much easier than some reviews I have seen have suggested), and a few other things. But really, these are very, very minor issues. The main thing is that it protects my iPhone without damaging it and is a pleasure to use.
