When my iPhone is in the case, I can easily ensure that the sound is off with a quick glance. If I listen to music with earbuds, the iPhone fits in the case with the jack plugged in. There's an opening for the jack. The case holds the iPhone in place securely, but you can push it out with your finger using the slot at the bottom of the case.
